4th Eexpedition by Latgolas Lizeika - Preiļi

Our fourth Latgolas Lizeika expedition to Preiļi began with a visit to Kristīne and Annija Stašulāne at their countryside home, “Dzeņu mājas.” We were welcomed with a traditional Easter “switching” using bird cherry branches, searched for and rolled Easter eggs, and talked about Easter and Midsummer traditions. We also enjoyed a delicious treat of cheese, fried cheese, cake, and wild garlic butter, while learning about the family’s history and life in the countryside.

We then had lunch at the terrace “Arka,” tasting local dishes like Preiļi cheddar cheese soup, gulbešnīki, and kļockas.

To finish, we visited Preiļi Manor, where a guided tour and a short 5D film introduced us to local history, craftsmen, and even a legend about a girl whose ghost is said to still live in the manor. Preiļi is especially known for celebrating cheese as one of its key values.

"Latgolas Lizeika" is a European Solidarity Corps Project. Its main goal is to promote the preservation and popularization of the Latgalian language and culture among young people by using digital tools and an interactive learning platform. We aim to create an innovative and accessible way for young people to explore Latgalian culture, language, and traditions while simultaneously developing their digital and creative skills.

Great Results of InGameGration TC in Sigulda

5 days… and I almost forgot my phone existed 📵

InGameGration training course in Sigulda, Latvia brought together youth workers from Germany, Italy and Latvia for an intense, inspiring journey. Despite language differences, we quickly found our rhythm and became a strong team.

We explored how to work with young people from diverse cultural backgrounds through gamification, tested games described by youngsters themselves, and analyzed what truly makes a game engaging.

With support from amazing experts and cultural experiences, we didn’t just brainstorm — we created the first concept of a new game about empathy, multiculturality, cooperation… and fun 🎮

On the final day, we presented it at Sigulda youth centre Mērķis and received valuable feedback.

Full of energy and ideas — now it’s time for the next step: real game design 🚀

InGameGration is a KA2 Small-Scale Partnership project in the framework of Erasmus+ programme coordinated by L’Albero Della Vita (Italy) in a partnership with FrauFam e.V. (Germany) and Miromida (Latvia). The project aims to enhance youth workers’ competencies in engaging young migrants through game-based learning and storytelling.

Apply and Mind the Mountain in Norway

The mountain is at the heart of this project—not just as a physical environment in Norway, but as a symbol. Just like climbing a mountain, young people today face different obstacles in their lives. Through this exchange, participants are invited to explore these challenges in a supportive and international group, while enjoying the outdoors together.

This project is about finding a balance: between adventure and relaxation, between being active in nature and simply enjoying time with others. Participants will spend time hiking, discovering the Norwegian landscape, and taking part in outdoor activities, but also sharing stories, cultures, and perspectives with peers from across Europe.

Rather than focusing on concrete learning objectives, Mind the Mountain creates space for informal moments—around a campfire, during a walk, or in group conversations—where participants can reflect, connect, and grow at their own pace.

Back from Drawing Future in Serbia

DRAW YOUR FUTURE Youth Exchange by Kibitz Kolektiv in Vrsac, Serbia about Sustainable Development Goals with youth friendly language – comics.

The Latvian group is back from the project, giving their feedback.

Sofija: I really enjoyed the project. Special thanks to the organizers, who planned everything beautifully and are truly wonderful and fun people. I was amazed that even seemingly complex topics were explained in an interactive way, and it inspired me to make a difference, to make the world a little better. I loved the people on the project; they were very responsive, supportive, and engaging.

Mihails: The project in Serbia was a truly valuable and inspiring experience for me. As a group leader, I was able to not only coordinate the work and support the participants at every stage, but also build effective collaboration within the team, helping everyone discover their strengths.

It was especially important to see how the participants grew—becoming more confident, active, and open to new ideas and international collaboration. It was also a developmental experience for me: managing group dynamics, building international contacts, and planning future joint initiatives.

I am confident that projects like these foster not only knowledge but also a broader, more cosmopolitan mindset. I really hope that with my example, energy, and experience, I was able to inspire the kids to actively participate in the international environment and motivate them to move forward, creating their own projects and opportunities.

Rainers: I absolutely loved the project. I'm so glad I took part in such a project. I was surprised by how kind, talkative, and friendly the people were, and that really helped me make new friends. Thanks also to the organizers for helping us when we didn't understand something and solving transportation problems.

Agata: I really remember and liked this project, because before participating, I thought it would be difficult to integrate into the group and that everything would be different. I was impressed that all the participants were responsive and friendly, and it was very easy to fit in with any group. I liked that the time was well-organized, as there was plenty of time to get to know the participants, and I didn't have to worry about "what should I do now?" The project made it clear that the most important thing in any event is to fit in and not worry about the details.

Viktorija: I really liked the project because it brought together very open and interesting people; there was always someone to talk to. Before the project, I thought it would be completely different and more strict, but both the sessions and free time were easy and positive. It was my first project, and I think it was a 100% success, even with a few minor issues.

LadyLeader Generations workshop at Jelgava Library

Sometimes women need new shoes to feel confident for big changes in life, and sometimes — to buy a new dress to match those shoes.

It is all about the balance between leadership and femininity 👠👠

LadyLeader Generations is a KA2 Small-Scale Partnership project coordinated by Fundacja Pro Omnis (Poland) in a partnership with InterArt Foundation (Bulgaria) and Miromida (Latvia). The project aims to empower women across all generations, from young girls to seniors, by enhancing their leadership skills and encouraging active community involvement through innovative, non-formal education methods, fostering self-awareness, courage, and a balance between femininity and leadership. This will be achieved through gender leadership coaching by an improved LadyLeader study programme for women with a chance for follow-up, and a transformation board game.

Latgale Schools Express – Final Event

Representatives from all the Latgale Schools Express trips gathered in Daugavpils for a special graduation evening.

The graduates stepped out of their comfort zones and reached out to Daugavpils citizens through a special talking challenge — and it went really well!

The participants exchanged experiences from their journeys, asked and answered each other’s questions, connected with a journalist, and took part in the final evaluation.

Here are some reflections:
💬 “Šī bija unikāla pieredze, ko es novēlētu izbaudīt katram jaunietim.”
💬 “Pasaule ir liela, nav jābaidās par katra paziņa viedokli par sevi. Ja Tu apzinies, kas Tu esi, kādas ir tavas intereses, Tu varēsi atrast daudz jauno paziņu.”
💬 “Paplašināju savu redzesloku, komunicēju ar citiem jauniešiem, ieguvu draugus jaunus, sapratu, ka dzīvē ir daudz kas svarīgāks un plašāks kā ikdienas problēmas.”
💬 “Es uzzināju, ka var ļoti jauki pavadīt laiku, izglītojoties.”

And altogether, we brainstormed a wide range of new and even crazy ideas — routes, target groups, topics, tasks, missions, and extra challenges for a new project application, which we are going to write and coordinate together with these youngsters! 🚆🌍

Daļa no manas dvēseles palika ar oranžo saulrietu krasta malā pie Vikingu muzeja un Jurgordena parkā Stokholma. Bet tomēr negodīgi būtu nepieminēt draudzīgus ziemeļbriežus un to īpasniekus Lapzemju mežā, kas bija sniegains un balts kā no bērnu pasakas.

Galvenā mācība ir vienmēr attīstīties, un nebalstīties tik ļoti savā iepriekšējā pieredzē, jo tagad viss var būt pa jauno!

Visvairāk no ceļojuma man patika Rovaniemi Somijas pilsēta, kura izcēlās ar skaisto dabu, joprojām balto un visaptverošo ziemu un kopējo miera sajūtu, ko radīja gan atšķirtība no lielpilsētas, gan iedzīvotāju pozitīvisms un atsaucība. Iemācījos izprast sevi un savas emocijas, sapratu daudz jauna par sevi kā par cilvēku grupā un kā sociālu būtni. Nākošajiem dalībniekiem iesaku noteikti apmeklēt lokālos veikalus un paņemt lielāku somu vai atstāt brīvu vietu, ja plāno veikalos arī kaut ko pirkt!

Visvairāk man patika Stokholma; tā šķita interesantāka un krāsaināka. Tur bija vairāk interesantu vietu, cilvēki bija dzīvespriecīgāki, un pati pilsēta bija aktīvāka. Cilvēki bija atsaucīgāki. Pateicoties šim ceļojumam, es iemācījos strādāt komandā, izdarīt pareizos secinājumus un iemācījos labāk pārvaldīt naudu. Varu ieteikt nākamajām grupām ņemt līdzi galda spēles, jo pārtraukumi var kļūt ļoti garlaicīgi. Noteikti paņemiet līdzi ērtus apavus, jo ir daudz aktivitāšu un vietu, kurp doties. Noteikti paņemiet līdzi savu naudu.

Ņikita

Stokholma, jo cilvēki ir ļoti laipni, pilsēta ir ļoti skaista, ir daudz vietu, kur doties, un klimats ir ļoti labs. Ir arī ļoti ērti veidi, kā pārvietoties starp vietām.

Es iemācījos aprēķināt izdevumus, man uzlabojās garastāvoklis, kā arī valodas zināšanas.

Izvēlieties labu mājas atrašanās vietu un neaizmirstiet pirmās nepiecišamības zāles. Tāpat jāspēj strādāt komandā.

Anastasija

Visvairāk man patika Stokholma. Tā ir liela un moderna pilsēta ar daudzām tehnoloģijām, ērtu transportu. Pilsēta ir tīra un kopta, tur ir daudz ūdens, parku, kā arī restorāni un iepirkšanās centri. Tur bija brīnišķīga atmosfēra, un man ļoti patika pavadīt tur laiku.

Ceļojuma laikā es iemācījos dzīvot un komunicēt ar cilvēkiem, kurus biju satikusi pavisam nesen. Tas man palīdzēja kļūt atvērtākai. Šis ceļojums man arī iemācīja orientēties jaunā pilsētā. Es uzzināju vairāk par Skandināvijas kultūru un cilvēku dzīvesveidu, kā arī ieguvu noderīgus padomus ēdiena gatavošanā.

Es ieteiktu vairāk pastaigāties pa pilsētu, jo tā var labāk sajust tās atmosfēru. Nebaidieties iepazīties ar jauniem cilvēkiem. Dalieties savos iespaidos ar komandu, pavadiet vairāk laika kopā un centieties būt draudzīgi.

Kristers

Man vislabāk patika Zviedrijā Stokholmā. Tā kā man patīk valstis kuras ir iekļaujošas, progresīvas un pilnas ar dabu, Stokholma ir mana pilsēta. Tā bija pilna ar kultūru. Muzeju daudzveidība bija fantastiska un vide bija tīra vienmēr, kas mani ļoti priecēja! Kā arī sabiedrība bija ļoti iekļaujoša, jebkurš var justies kā mājās!

Šis ceļojums man ir devis neskaitāmas atmiņas un pieredzi. Šajā projektā iemācījos padziļinātu komunikāciju ar saviem vienaudžiem un lokālajiem iedzīvotājiem! Kā arī budžeta plānošanu!

Es iesaku nākamajiem ceļotājiem novērtēt vietas kurās dzīvojat, jo nekad nevar zināt kāda būs nākamā, kā arī jau nedēļu/divas izpētīt valsti uz kuru dodaties. Varbūt valstī ir kādas īpatnības, vai arī specifiskas lietas, kuras netiek afišētas publiski.

The Kick off of Home Sweet City

Together with our partners from Estonia we kicked off the Home Sweet City project in Daugavpils.

We explored and compared the histories of our cities, took a tram tour while talking with local young people and youth workers, and met with local media.

Full of inspiration and ready to start the real work.

Home Sweet City is a KA2 Small-Scale Partnership project coordinated by Multi Nutikas (Estonia) in a partnership with Miromida (Latvia). The project aims to strengthen the emotional connection of young people in the border cities of Estonia and Latvia – Narva and Daugavpils - with their hometowns and to foster their proactivity through creative exploration of the urban environment, self-presentation in public spaces, intercultural dialogue, and engagement in community life. At the same time, it expands the toolkit of youth workers by offering innovative methodologies and practical solutions to support youth initiatives, develop digital competences, and promote intercultural understanding.

Drawing LadyLeader courage in Ozolnieki
