Our HOPE project can make a change: we got contacted for the Ministry research

Latvian researchers have shown interest in our Solidarity project “Hope: HOmeless are PEople.” Since November of last year, on behalf of the Ministry of Welfare, they have been conducting a large-scale study on homelessness in Latvia: “An Evaluation of the Legal and Substantive Framework of Homelessness and the Development of Proposals for Specific Support Measures in Addressing Homelessness.”
We were invited to take part in an interview for this study, and today we shared our experience from the project “HOPE” — the challenges we encountered and the beautiful moments we experienced together with some of the clients of Daugavpils shelter. Together with the researchers, we sincerely hope that in the near future Latvia will overcome prejudices against this society group and develop appropriate support services to reduce the number of people left without safe and decent housing. And those who will still be HOmeless, will be considered as PEople.
