Rēzekne is Home Sweet City! 10 young people and 2 new youth friendly routes in the city!What did we do as part of the “Home Sweet City” project?
Over the course of two weeks, we worked together with 10 young people from Rēzekne to explore the city and look at it from a youth perspective.
We talked about why young people leave the city, what encourages them to return, and what helps them feel connected to Rēzekne. The participants also met with local entrepreneurs who had once left the city but later returned and decided to develop their businesses here.
During the training, the young people learned how to use Google Maps, conduct interviews, create sketches and develop their own routes. Together, we explored different parts of the city, visited various places and discussed which spaces and opportunities are truly important for young people.
The participants also tried their hand at creating stamps and designing a special booklet that will become part of one of the tourist routes.
As a result, the young people independently created two routes around Rēzekne. The first highlights places that can be useful and interesting for young people in their everyday lives. The second offers a more touristic perspective of the city, encouraging people to discover interesting places and collect their own memories and stamps along the way.
The main result was not only the completed routes, but also the new skills, teamwork experience and opportunity to look at the city in a new way and see it through the eyes of young people.
We are now working on the final details. We are completing the map, creating the special stamps, preparing the booklet and finalising cooperation with the places that will become part of the routes. All these elements will soon come together as one system, and the youth routes will officially launch on 1 November.
Everyone will have the opportunity to explore Rēzekne, discover new places, collect stamps and create their own story of the city.

Home Sweet City is a KA2 Small-Scale Partnership project coordinated by Multi Nutikas (Estonia) in a partnership with Miromida (Latvia). The project aims to strengthen the emotional connection of young people in the border cities of Estonia and Latvia – Narva and Daugavpils - with their hometowns and to foster their proactivity through creative exploration of the urban environment, self-presentation in public spaces, intercultural dialogue, and engagement in community life. At the same time, it expands the toolkit of youth workers by offering innovative methodologies and practical solutions to support youth initiatives, develop digital competences, and promote intercultural understanding.
